How to remove window tint film from car without any residue?
Need to remove my car window tint. How to do it at home?|||you need to have some ammonia and some plastic that you can put on it. spray the window with the ammonia then put the plastic on it shut the car up for a while and all you will need to do is pick mess and then get rid of the smell. and wipe window with windex, or glass cleaner|||heat it with a hair dryer till it blisters then pull it off wearing gloves so you don't burn yourself, then use soap and water to clean the rest changing towel side often. DO NOT use harsh chemicals like gas or alcohol they will discolor or possibly melt the plastic door panels when it drips down.. goo gone is usually ok but can harm the color of your door panel in some cases, if your VERY carefull with a razor you can do it but you take the Chance of scratching the glass.|||to get the glue off, carb cleaner works well|||scrap the window with a razor..... that is the only way...|||I have never done this before myself but i think you should be able to just peel it off your windows like one of my friends did and as for the residue something like gasoline on a rag should be able to get the sticky residue off your windows or you can buy a product likie googone or goo off found at your local grocery store or hardware store.|||You can peel the tint and remove the goo with alcohol. or you can go to the store and buy some expensive goo remover|||goo gone will take off all the glue residue|||its a pretty messy job requiring a fair bit of elbow grease; use a razor blade and scrape/peel all the film off then use metholated spirits and several rags and rubadud dud of comes the guey sticky stuff. Good luck ,have fun. Mirko.|||just peel it off then use some petroleum based product (gas, diesel, wd 40, carb cleaner) to rub off the residue. its simple and easy screw that razorblade stuff just peel it off as much as possible and do that petro thing|||PLEASE DON"T have it professionally done.but if you must do iy yourself go to an auto body supply store and get a gallon of laquer thinner(tell them you want the cheap stuff or "wash thinner" and a LOT of rags. You will also need a few single edge razor blades.Remove your door panels and peel the tint off with a razor blade now take a rag and wet it with thinner then wipe the glue on the window to soften it.Now take a razor blade and scrape as much of the glue off as you can then take your rag and wet it again and clean up the left over residue.Once you think you have all the glue off clean the glass with some wndex.I assure you there will still be some glue there so take a clean rag wet it with the thinner and spot clean the left overs, now clean with windex again.THis job is a huge mess and labor intensive so think twice before getting into it.Hopefully by the time you do all the side glass you'll have the hang enough to be very careful when you do the back and windsheild not to drip thinner all over the place. Also you'll wana wear some heavy duty latex gloves...GOOD LUCK
