Easy way to dim fluorescent lights.. maybe window tint the diffuser?

I am trying to find out a way to dim down the huge rectangle flourcent lights in my basement. I have already disconnected a couple to tone it down a little but I want to dim this nasty bright light. I dont need to see every dam pigment on my skin.. Maybe put window tint on the inside of the frosted plastic panel (diffuser) ? Or would that creat a problem... Any suggestionsEasy way to dim fluorescent lights.. maybe window tint the diffuser?
Buy soft light lamps. You can put window tint on the diffusers, no problem. Just don't remove lamps (bulbs) without disconnecting the ballasts.
Tint would work, you could use many things to cut down the light..Colored paper etc. You could try doubling up on the diffusers.Easy way to dim fluorescent lights.. maybe window tint the diffuser?
I suggest buying a lighting fixture with a built-in diffuser. Easier and faster, unless you have time to be creative then you can go find a semi-transluscent acrylic panel and boxed it up and then attach to the light. Then again, just buy a light fixture in ur local hardware. Way easier.
These lamps are available in several "britness" levels within the same tube configuration.

However, reducing it also reduces the accuracy of the color rendition.

There are several options:

1. Remove 1/2 of the lamps

2. Reduce the color rendition of the lamps to

4100, which still remains in the white color

spectrum.

The last two numbers on the tube will tell you where you are now.Easy way to dim fluorescent lights.. maybe window tint the diffuser?
good ideas above, frosted panels or different temperature lights

count the lamps in your fixtures and you can check if it is a 2 , 3 or 4 lamp(bulb)ballast, if there are two 2-lamp ballasts then you can remove the two lamps on the one ballast,

if it's just too many fixtures you can split the circuit and add a light switch and divide up the lights , which requires rewiring and a good knowledge of electrical work, don't do it if you're not sure.
you can also buy colored shatter tubes. its a tube you slide over the bulb to contain the glass if it shatters. they're made in a lot of different colors. you would have to go to an electrical supply store and order them. not usually in stock.
