Well D M , I have tried several ways that usually end up destroying the fear defogger. Check here for a better idea that stinks like ^%$# but works really good.http://www.tintdude.com/remove.html. Lot`s of other answers you may have on this site as well. Depending on your car, sometimes I found it easier and cheaper to just replace the back glass with something from the wreckers, check here for local guys and see if it may be easier. http://www.car-part.com/. If you have lots of room to work, great. If it is a hatchback, take it off. May take a while, but better than working upside down. Have fun, and good luck. BTW. The heat gun only works on the older stuff and you really need to be patient.Whats the best way to remove old window tint from a car window ?
Peel it off. The adhesive is obviously breaking down, so it's not gonna be as hard as you think.

The problem comes from the adhesive now wants to come off the film and stay on the window.

Believe it or not, SOS pads soaked liberally. DO NOT let the detergent of the SOS pads diminish to the point that it's gone. As soon as you feel the detergent is starting to disappear, grab a new SOS pad.

I did this on a '92 Camaro with great results. Got the knowledge from a friend who used to install window tint. I thought he was nuts, until I did it. Worked great especially since I had rear window defrost.Whats the best way to remove old window tint from a car window ?
after peeling off the tint.

you will notice adhesive from tint will remain

get a clean rug,

damp or wet it with kerosene or low grade gasoline.

wipe off the adhesive, it will melt very fast.

then wipe again the glass with clean wet rug with soap to remove adhesive and gasoline odor.
Spray a combo of dishwashing solution and warm water on entire glass, let soak for a few minutes, start at corner and slowly peel back off, spray as you pull where tint meets glass. When finished just take a razor blade and lightly scrape residue off. Your'e done!
