I live in illinois and am thinking about tinting my windows. i have no factory tint. all my windows are untinted. i drive a ford contour, a 4 door sedan. what are the laws about window tint in central illinois?What is the Illinois window tint law?
Current law allows any darkness behind the driver and NONE on either side of the driver or on the windshield below 6 inches from the top of the windshield. Reflective tinting is not allowed. Dual side mirrors are mandatory if the rear window is tinted.
There is a bill in the Assembly to allow no less than 50% transmissivity non-reflective tint on either side of the driver but raises the rear standard to no less than 35% transmissivity. As of Oct 15, 2009 it was in the Rules Committee. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStat鈥?/a>
