Why do you need to heat shrink a window tint?

hey I just saw a video on window tinting and the only window that was heat shrunk was the rear. why is this? shouldn't all the other windows be done the same? thanks. Why do you need to heat shrink a window tint?
I am not a window tinter, but have a 97 olds cutlass (I am told it has the one of the worst rear windows to tint because of the curves in the glass) I believe heating the tint helps to soften it so it will conform to the curves in the glass. Why do you need to heat shrink a window tint?
Maybe because of the heating strip??
