Can cops tell the difference on the rear window tint?

I am planning to tint my rear window with 35% tint in Virginia by myself, but with the facotory tint, it would be darker like 32%.......

to answer your question yes.the police have a hand held device that can measure the tint percentage. you will also have a decrease in visibility especially at night.weather or not the police will give you a hard time depends on several factors.in my area the police will target young people in hot rods or customized cars,probably because there is always something they can find that's not exactly legal on them therefore creating revenue in the forms of tickets for the town.now of course that's not the only reason they pull people over.they are there to ensure our safety.Can cops tell the difference on the rear window tint?
