How much would it cost to have window tint installled?

I just bought some window tint and thought I'd have a professional install it. I have a Lincoln Mark VIII which is a coupe similar to the Thunderbird. The tint is 35%. How much would this cost approximately? Thanks|||Ok, firstly....you probably want to take back whatever tint you bought yourself. A professional installer won't touch it, they do not typically install products a customer brings in off the street...if they did they could be held liable for damage to said product, etc and have nothing to back themselves up with.

Most good tint shops use a CNC cutting machine to precisely cut out tint to your cars window dimensions. A template is loaded into a piece of software and a small laser cuts out each window piece in a matter of seconds.

If you're doing 2 side windows, 1 rear, and 2 pocket windows (the little things behind your door windows) you're looking at between $150 and $250 depending on the type of tint you want installed. The budget "house" brand tint that most shops install will look fine for a year or 2 but will eventually bubble and fade to a nasty purple (the stuff you bought will most certainly turn purple) A step up to what is commonly referred to as "5 diamond" tint is the way to go. It will most likely outlast your car and is much thicker (resists scratching from the inside better).

When you're looking for a shop check to see how they cut tint...do they still do it old school by hand or do they use a CNC machine to do it for them? Is there shop heated and humidity controlled (if not installation is much more difficult/less likely to hold up), and lastly...do they look experienced or is it a bunch of high school kids who "think" they know cars?

As a shop owner I can tell you ALL of these questions are very important...particularly the last. 1 out of every 4 tint jobs we send off comes back crap, every time it's because some 18 year old punk was given the opportunity to do the work. Tinting is an art, not a process....every job is unique and if the installer is not experienced/cares about their work you'll know rather quickly.

Good luck, hope this helps!|||Call around for local quotes, aka estimates.|||It all depends on window size, type of tint. Aprox $100.00 to $200.00
