This is what I think you should do. Peel off the old tint. There will be sticky stuff left over. Thats normal. Go to advance auto parts and by a 4 dollar bottle of Bug and Tar remover. Spray that on it. Wait 5 minutes then wipe it off. It works everytime.

Water should work fine or glass cleaner.get it started in the corner pull it back and spray onto glass and film good luck.
u should still be able to use a razor blade, just when u get to the defroster stripes, start peeling it by hand

these people dont even know what thier talking about thier just answering any ? they can making this harder to use and gain info on i work in las vegas for a tint company we do work such as the luxor casino and electric companys
i hate to tell you this but there is no good way to remove it ill tell 1 way you can try to but ur going to be disssatisfyed with it

if the tint is purple there is no way in he double hock sticks ull get it off the defrosters properly i mean u may get it off but if ur going to retint it you are going to be forced to scrape the lines to get the tint off there are chemicals and tons of stuff at pep boys it doesnt work it works just as good as warm water lol it may seem easier but it does not do what its advertized to -- if u need to remove glue and ur not used to cleaning it off ull need to work in single motion strokes if u go up and downa ll over the place ur gunna just spread the glue everywhere this job is very tiresome ive spent 2 hours removing stubbern rear window tint b4 the older and nastier and more purple the worse it is the newer and more black and freash the tint is the easier- removing tint leave shreds everywhere and ussaly smells very nasty - there are special tools for certain concave windows and u must get behind ur rear tail light if u have one too ....
ull be lucky if u can salvage ur defroster lines personally theres not a whole lot u can really do and there isnt a good way ive heard yet to do that without scraping them off-
...how ever if you are that adiment about saving ur defroster lines u can either scrape them clean see if u can find a auto shop and redo the metal across i dont even kno if thats possible , or u can try my secret technique although this only works good when ur outside and its how ussaly or a very warm garage --
ull need a huge black plastic bag rip it to the size of ur back window-- get a water bottle fill with clean warm or room temp water please follow directions no need for super hot water ..
ull take some baby shampoo like jhonsons and jhonson no dont use dish soap no dont use anything but baby shampoo its formulated a special way 99 cent store baby shampoo works too ! ur gunna add about 3 or 4 drops just barley enough to make the water get a lil sudsy - spray it all over the back window i mean dreanch that windows like u tossed ur car in apool yes it will drip everywhere dont worry about ur speakers or stuff they will be fine ..... now put ur garbage bag over the wet window - here the secret ull need a heat gun from lows u can buy one for 25bucks use it and take it back get ur money just be carefull heat gun type and wattage does not matter with this makita or what ever ur gunna sit with an ext cord and ur going to slowly but very carfully heat up ur back window and I MEAN CAREFULL U HOLD THAT GUN TOO CLOSE TO THE GLASS FOR TOO LONG AND YOU WILL CRACK YOUR BACK WINDOW IT ALSO CAN MELT UR MOLD BURN THE CRAP OUTTA U AND BUBBLE PAINT SO WATCH WHERE U POINT IT AND YES IT HEATS UP IN 5 SEC DONT LAY IT ON ITS OWN CORD AND HOLD IT DOWN WORDS WHILE UNPLUG AND PRAY THE NOZZLE TIP TO COOL IT DOWN AFTERWORDS DO NOT SPRAY UP INSIDE OF IT OR U WILL BREAK THE CRYSTALS ---- EVENTUALLY UR GOAL IS TO STEAM THE TINT LOOSE OR AT LEAST MAKE IT MORE SOFT AND EASY TO REMOVE INBIGGER CHUNKS TINT USSALY PEELS IN 2 -4LAYERS if ur lucky ull lift all the layers of it off the glass at once while peeling ...
we charge 20 a window to remove tint - price check ur area as im almost sure this is too much and u wont want to do it urself..... outside of vegas u can expect up to 50bucks to remove ur rear window tint
i advise to make sure u get suntek high performance metalized series tint if they dont have it at ur shop wave good bye to them they will feed you a bunch of crap and tell u thier stuff is just as good and its not !!! weve been using sun-tek films for over 7 years now !
